Are they all listed online?
About 60% of these books can be found online.
-
Do
you stock academic or computer books?
No. Most of them are bulky and being a small store there is
little space to accommodate them.
-
Can we source books through you?
We usually limit this service to our regular customers only. So
if it is your first time and you want to place an order for a
computer book that weighs 3 kg, then the answer is NO!
-
Do
you take any deposits for books that we request for?
Almost never.
-
Can we trade in our books?
Yes. But if you are thinking of exchanging one book for another,
then it is NO. Usually, you get a credit against the books you
bring in which you can use to purchase other books from us.
-
I
have a big box of books at home to sell. Do I have to bring it
over to the store?
If the books are a larger quantity (more than 100) then, we
would certainly come over to appraise it. Otherwise it is best
to bring it in person.
-
What kind of books do you buy?
The current demand is for books under the following categories:-
Art & Crafts, Architecture, Biographies, Business, Cooking,
Health, Home & Garden, History & Politics, Music, Non-Fiction,
Science, Self-Help, Religion & Philosophy, War & Military.
-
What kind of books are you not interested in?
As we already have a fairly abundant collection of Children's
Books (except board books for kids below 5 years), General
Fiction, Romance, Western, we are not interested to stock them
at the moment. And certainly not old computer and academic
books. If you are in doubt please call us before you bring books
to the store.
-
I
bought a book for 3 KD at another bookstore. I read it just
once and it looks so new. How much will you pay for it?
Our purchasing price has very little to do with what you bought
it for. Very often the average price we pay for a fiction book
in very good condition is just 250 fills each. Of course,
non-fiction books fetch you more depending on if it is saleable.
But if you are not satisfied with this, you can always sign up
for our "Sell Through" feature.
-
How long has it been since the store started?
We started out at the end of July 2003 with a store which had
more space than books. Now it is the other way around!
-
Do
you accept KNET or credit card?
Unfortunately no. As of now we only accept cash.
-
Why don't you move to Salmiya or Fahaheel?
The idea has definitively crossed our minds. Hopefully
someday you could just walk across to a used bookstore instead
of having to drive all the way to the city.
